Why Join the YMCA?

The Algona Family YMCA is Algona's Community Center. We pride ourselves on being more than just a place to get a good work out. The YMCA provides a safe haven for children, as well as a place for families to come together for fitness and fun. All combined, these distinctions set the Algona Family YMCA apart. We are dedicated to providing fun and safe programs that build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Membership Types

The Algona Family YMCA never turns anyone away due to the inabilty to pay our standard membership rates. Please inquire about our 'Open Doors' Program if one of the following catagories won't fit your lifestyle.

  • Youth - Anyone 17 years of age and younger.
    • No sign up fee
    • $19.00 per month via bankraft or $222.00 per year
  • Individual - Any person 18 years or above
    • $70.00 sign up fee (Only paid once as long as your membership is current)
    • $40.50 per month via bankdraft or $472.80 per year
  • Couple - Any married couple, as defined by Iowa state law.
    • $90.00 sign up fee
    • $49.85 per month via bankdraft or $580.80 per year
  • Family - Any married couple, as defined by Iowa State Law, and any dependant children.
    • $95.00 Sign Up Fee
    • $54.50 per month via bankdraft or $634.80 per year

Membership Payment Plans

The Algona Family YMCA offers the following payment options:

Full annual payment: You may pay the full annual fee upon purchasing or renewing a membership.

Monthly bank draft: You may elect to pay for your membership by having the monthly membership fee automatically deducted from your checking or savings account on the 10th of each month. Cancellation of a bank draft membership must be made by the 5th of each month for the current month. You must complete a cancellation form at the YMCA to discontinue this service.

MasterCard/Visa/Discover/Bank Debit Cards: We accept all of these for annual payments.

Financial assistance (Open Doors): Available through our scholarship program. If you are in need of assistance, please stop in today to pick up an application.
